Regulatory Context · March 2026
The Peptide Landscape is Shifting
In February 2026, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that 14 of 19 peptides previously placed on the FDA Category 2 list will be moved back to Category 1 — allowing compounding pharmacies to produce them again under physician prescription. The formal reclassification is pending FDA publication. Compounds expected to be reinstated include BPC-157, Thymosin Alpha-1, TB-500, AOD-9604, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, GHK-Cu, Selank, Semax, KPV, and MOTS-c. Category 1 status means compounding pharmacies can produce them under prescription — they are not FDA-approved drugs and over-the-counter access is not expected.
